Car maintenance is a very important thing to know about, but most of us enjoy driving our car far more than we enjoy maintaining them, and many drivers do not know much about how to take care of their car at all. It is important to know at least the basics of how to maintain your car and keep it running smoothly. Below are car maintenance tips that you should practice regularly.

1. Find a mechanic you love. Finding a trusted mechanic is perhaps the most important thing you can do to take care of you car. By finding a mechanic whose prices are affordable, and who will really take care of you car, you are ensuring the car will have a lifetime of excellent care. There are horror stores of mechanics ripping off unsuspecting motorists and overcharging them, so make sure to do your homework. As family, friends, and research on the Internet, and make sure to really find an auto mechanic that you can trust with your car.

2. Get your oil changed regularly. When you get your oil changed, you will be given a sticker that tells you when to come in again. Depending on your car this could be ever 6 months, or perhaps every 2,000 to 5,000 miles. Getting your oil checked regularly (and the rest of your engines fluids such as coolant topped off) assures your car us running well and can also help find any problems before they cause real damage.

3. Get your tires rotated and check your air pressure. Tires should be rotated every 5,000 miles to make sure they are wearing evenly which will help your safety and make sure your car is running efficiently . 4. Pay attention to small problems. Say a pebble hits your windshield and cracks it. Similarly, pay attention any unusual noises and have your mechanic look at anything out of the ordinary. In this way you will assure you never have huge car problems.

Overall the most important aspect of taking care of your car is regular check ups. Get oil changed on time and your car serviced on a routine schedule. While it may seem like a costly hassle, putting effort into your car now assures it runs well for years to come.
